Pros and cons of ETS Live® To Go app for iPhone and iPad

ETS Live® To Go app good for

I am very happy with this. I was always in need of such an app to replace my calls to ETS. This app is accurate, easy to use and I do not need to call ETS any more. But I am not sure if this app can tell us if a bus service is not available in a certain days or hours.
Very useful and easy to use. Helpful finding bus stops. It estimates bus arrival using the bus gps. Great for daily commute or to explore the city

Some bad moments

To be a contender in this field you have to do more that a simple schedule lookup. You NEED: Current location lookup and what buses are nearby (see transitapp). Notifications of when my bus will be here. Directions from point a to point b. Also it would be great if this app could hold my bus pass/ fate products. Look at how the Starbucks app works with the Starbucks card. I just scan my phone with the app open. Take it to the next level guys! For now Im sticking with transitapp and Google. Even the ETS2GO website does more ;)
This app is a joke. Preexisting knowledge of the bus routes and stops is necessary in order to use it which pretty much renders it useless. Definitely just stick to google maps.
if you are new to YEG one would assume this city created app would be THE app to use - FAIL users have to know the city and ETS system first. instead of building from what you know, why wouldnt you build for what users dont know????
Was any research done on what people really needed out of an app like this? Doesnt seem like it. Suggestion, look at other apps such as Transit 360 and their user friendly features, then go build an app from the city, for the Edmontonians. This is embarrassing. And Im not even just talking about real-time tracking, theres so much more that can be done.
Now while the app does work and does everything they said it would it assumes you know the bus stop numbers and routes. And if you knew all this already then you wouldnt need this app. Stick to google maps. It works better for the everyday person.
Its a start, and is helpful if you want to know the schedule of all of the buses, but not so useful for finding the right buses to take to get where you want to go. If thats what youre looking for, downloading Google Maps and using the transit setting is probably a better option.
